Hi my name is Steven Ponec, here at Steven Ponec Counseling

About Me (Steven Ponec)

What Drives Me

As a therapist, I’m drawn to helping people that are having difficulty managing their neurodivergence. I’m energized by helping those who are feeling stuck, lost, and disappointed. Knowing that I can use personal and professional experiences with neurodivergence to help someone who’s struggling to get more done brings me joy.

I Know Your Struggles

You want a therapist who actually understands what you’re going through, right? As someone living with ADHD, I know how hard it can be to not receive the support you need. I’ve also noticed how common it is for neurodivergent (ADHD and Autistic) people to not value themselves. Many people I work with, who have ADHD, struggle with emotional regulation, managing their impulses, and making sound decisions. Maybe you do too. Honestly, I’ve always been drawn to people who are creative and thoughtful and want help navigating life, and that’s why I think my strength lies in helping people with ADHD.

The Work I Do

I help people move from feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure of themselves to feeling clear and confident. I meet you where you are and help you find balance in your life. Whether you’ve just been diagnosed or have been struggling for a long time, I’ll guide you. I teach ways to manage your emotions and develop systems to stay organized. I understand how different brain wiring works and tailor my support accordingly.

What I’m All About

I’ve had to learn how to manage my own ADHD and speak up for myself, especially during tough times when I didn’t get the help I needed. My goal is to help others avoid some of the frustrations I experienced, giving them tools to stay calm, organized, and in control. I want to support you when things get hard, so you don’t have to suffer as long as I did without the proper kind of help.

My approach focuses on practical solutions and emotional support, often through organizing systems. I also use methods like ACT, DBT, and CBT—techniques that help with mindfulness and building skills to work with how your brain is wired differently.
