What to Expect With Counseling

In my work as a therapist, I’ve had the chance to help people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. I especially feel close to working with teenagers because I remember what that was like for me. But I also understand that people of many different ages face their own unique struggles. My main goal is to support you in feeling happier and more comfortable being your true self. I am welcoming and supportive of individuals who are neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+, and I am here to help both teens and adults through life’s changes and the challenges that come with mental health.

I want to create a warm, safe, and welcoming place where you can just be yourself. I understand that managing your feelings can sometimes be hard, so I’m here to help guide you and make you feel understood. I focus on caring about what’s important to you and use proven techniques that help you develop new skills and stay mindful. My main goal is to listen and support you so you feel comfortable opening up about your feelings and challenges.

Before I became a counselor, I spent many years as a photographer and really enjoyed making art. I have a degree in Art Practices, focusing on photography, and I find that my creative background helps me connect with and support the people I work with. I also care deeply about the neurodivergent community, which influences how I approach my work. As a therapist, one of my main goals is to be genuine and to create a safe space where clients feel comfortable being their true selves.

When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with my cats, taking walks with my wife, or trying out new restaurants around Portland. I truly believe that life can be a wonderful experience, and sometimes we just need the right tools and skills to enjoy it to the fullest.
