Play Therapy (Children Ages 7-12)
Your child is acting out, and you're not sure why. No matter what you do—trying to talk to them or discipline them—it doesn’t seem to help. They also seem very upset, and you’re finding it hard to bring them back to a good place. It all happened suddenly, and they’re having a hard time getting along with their brothers or sisters. You’re unsure what caused this quick change, but they don’t seem like themselves anymore.
I can help your child through a special kind of therapy designed for kids called child-centered play therapy. Kids often use play to share how they’re feeling because it’s their natural way of talking. During our sessions, we’ll use toys and drawing to help your child show what’s bothering them and to work through their feelings. Think about the last time you listened to music or did some drawing when you were stressed—how much that helped you feel better. Play therapy can be like that for kids, but even more helpful—many times over.
